Helen Hunt Full-Frontal Nudity In The Sessions

Helen Hunt is not an actress I regularly see on the big screen, nor the small screen for that matter. Sure, I have seen some of her work, most memorably Twister and What Women Want. There have been a few others but its not like you see her at the cinema every year. In 2012 the actress sort-of made a comeback with her role in the movie The Sessions. The movie is about the real-life story of Mark O’Brien, a man who became paraplegic after a bout of polio in his youth. He decides to use the service of a sexual-surrogate, Cheryl Cohen-Greene, played by Helen Hunt. The movie plays out a bit like a comedy-drama. Sure the sex scenes take center stage, but we also see a lot of the consequences for both Mark and Cheryl. While The Sessions is a good movie that touches upon a touchy subject it was not without criticism. Actor John Hawkes was not obliged to perform fully naked, while Helen Hunt has two full-frontal nudity shots. It set off a sexism debate in Hollywood with critics stating it was evidence of objectification of women while others lamented that male nudity was less acceptable in mainstream movies than that of women.
