The movie that would ultimately become Alita: Battle Angel had been in development hell for years. Released in 2019 it is based in the Japanese Manga comic Battle Angel Alita, which is still a better title. It was supposed to be directed by James Cameron, but in the end it was Robert Rodriguez who created it. It is a robot movie, but more A.I. than Terminator and has an ensemble cast including Christoph Waltz, Rosa Salazar and Jennifer Connelly. The latter is of course why we are here. She plays Dr. Chiren, a engineer with some morally questionable viewpoints. While not the villain of the story, she does come around in the end, she is portrayed as femme-fatale.
And that includes a scene in which she has just had sex with the villain and is lounging wearing just lingerie. And her choice of lingerie includes sexy stockings, garter straps with fine metal clasps and a see-through body. We dont get to see that in detail so it could be a separate garter belt as well. All this seems for no reason, other than add some zest to the movie. Yet, it is in keeping with Jennifer Connelly ‘s prior roles. In fact, her wearing sexy lingerie is almost a trope in the same way french actresses are always naked.
