Michelle Forbes stuns in cami-garter & stockings in Just Looking

Today I have just a very brief lingerie scene to analyze. It is from the movie Just Looking released in 1995. It stars Michelle Forbes as Mary the object of this post and the wife of sexually repressed husband Dave. You might be wondering, why haven’t I heard of this movie? There are several reasons, after watching it once many years back it feels like it was produced who just had too much money. Another reason is the somewhat dodgy plot of the husband becoming a peeping tom. Finally, the scene involving Michelle Forbes wearing lingerie is just too short and not memorable in any other way. It cannot match up with Bebe Neuwirth in The Associate or Melanie Griffith on Working Girl.

So that is Just Looking. Let us look at the scene. It takes place about two-thirds into the movie. Dave and Mary have somewhat reconciled and both seem to making headway through the married-with-children malaise. They decide to have sex and Mary wears cami-garter with stockings as she steps out of the bathroom. It was meant as a gift form Dave but Mary states she believes he bought it to please himself. No doubt there is some truth to that, but it does feel as if the comment is passive aggressive. Considering the story takes place in the early to mid-90s a woman such as Mary would probably still be wearing stockings with garters, and the garters would attach to a garter belt, body, or cami-garter. Later in the movie Mary wears several professional outfits such as a business dress that would be ideally suited with this piece of lingerie. Eventually Mary seems to relax onto the bed leaving the viewer with a good look at her firm body. Dave tries to undo the garters with his teeth but that goes nowhere.

Just Looking is as such a bad movie with one good scene, and a few decent others involving Michelle Forbes. I have always liked the actress, from Star Trek The Next Generation to Battlestar Galactica and Berlin Station, sadly nudity in her scenes is few and far between but there is glamour. This was made clear when she walked the cobblestones of Berlin in Stiletto heels.
