The Agency is a new spy-thriller series on Paramount+ that started in the fall of 2024. Starring Michael Fassbender, Jeffrey Wright and Richard Gere I thoroughly enjoyed the high-production values. The series is set and filmed in London and deals with the people from The Agency, basically the CIA, with the fallout of one of their agents in Belarus being captured. The series reminded me a lot Berlin Station in that it shows off the locale and deals ‘realistically’ with spycraft. I suggest you go and see series for yourself. It has been renewed for a second season so its not like its a wasted effort.

However, we are here for Saura Lightfoot-Leon. She plays one of the side characters in the season, Danny, who is being prepared to be sent out to Teheran to spot potential recruits for the Iranian nuclear program. Her interaction with the main characters is minimal, Fassbender’s character tests her abilities and that is about. The effect of this is that The Agency feels like a revolving, new recruits are always being trained. In one scene Danny has sex with the man who fake-interrogated her.

As I stated The Agency is a really good series, filmed mostly around the London City, I recognized a lot of landmarks. The area of London does not have the tourists like West-end or SOHO and with its hodgepodge of styles is a remarkable backdrop. The series also stars Katherine Waterston, who is Danny’s handler. Katherine adds to the glamour by usually wearing a pencil skirt to work. It must be fun to work for The Agency.
